Peripheries
"This CD contains a collection of pieces that represent cornerstones of my musical repertoire. Besides works of the 12th and 13th century by Hildegard von Bingen and Thibaut de la Champagne there are compositions from our times, on the one hand ‘classics’ of contemporary recorder music, on the other hand entirely new pieces, published here for the first time, that emerged out of close collaborations with the composers. All of the contemporary works chosen reveal - already in the choice of such an historic and archaic instrument - a yearning for the old sound and the individual traditions of music. Dorothée Hahne, for instance, has worked through and commented the music of Hildegard von Bingen in her commentari-pieces. Karin Rehnqvist with her piece Lod has started out on a search for sunken patterns, the ’basis’ of music. Contemporary composers from Japan as well, Seiichi Inagaki, just as Maki Ishii, fall back on their musical traditions, comment them, and combine them with new composing techniques. Through audible reflections of old music, a dialogue develops between old and new, worldly and spiritual, European and Non-European." Dorothee Oberlinger
Rezensionen:
