Concert for recorder flutes, Didgeridoo & Live-Elektronik

Dorothee Oberlinger - recorder
Dorothée Hahne - Didgeridoo/Live-Electronic/Composition

The idea for commentari (Latin: to consider, to refelct) is based on traditions surrounding the martyr St Ursula and the musical setting of these traditions by Hildegard von Bingen in the sequence "O ecclesia".
This piece in five movements reflects not only the tonal repertoire of the recorder, as represented by the diverse members of that family played by the virtuoso Dorothee Oberlinger, but encompasses the two performers' characteristic playing techniques with their acoustic and electronic instruments, as well as the acoustics of the church interior. The acoustic instruments comprise the prehistoric didgeridoo, a plastic tube, medieval recorder, and soprano, treble, tenor and sub-bass recorders. The electronic consists of live-electronic equipment and a computer. The concert is completed by the composition "Speciosa" from 2003 with electronic musiic derived from the sound of Cologne Church bells.
